Thrifter Rent-A-Rack Terms & Conditions

By renting a rack with Thrifter ("we", "us", "our"), you ("the Seller") agree to the following Terms & Conditions:

1. Rack Hire & Duration

  • Your payment covers one rack hire with up to 50 hangers or 25 hangers at one time for one calendar month, plus participation in any Thrifter-hosted events where your items may be sold during that month. Mini hires are limited to one seller only and cannot be shared. Full hires may be shared with a maximum of one additional seller (two sellers total), provided both sellers are registered with Thrifter before the rental begins.

  • You may top up your rack throughout the month as items sell.

  • Thrifter reserves the right to move or reposition racks within the store at any time for merchandising or operational reasons.

  • If you add too many items, Thrifter has the right to remove these from the floor and contact you to collect extra items.

2. Sales Updates & Communication

  • Sellers receive one email update mid month regarding sales.

  • Weekly updates are placed in the sellers' WhatsApp chat that is your responsibility to join via our Information email sent to the email you registered with.

  • You may request additional updates by emailing your store directly:

Noosa: noosa@heytherethrifter.com

Kawana: kawana@heytherethrifter.com

Gold Coast: goldcoast@heytherethrifter.com

Mackay: mackay@heytherethrifter.com

Melbourne: melbourne@heytherethrifter.com

General enquiries: hello@heytherethrifter.com

  • Sellers are not to contact staff on their personal mobile phones.

  • You are welcome in to check on your sales during shop hours, 7 days a week.

3. Item Allowance

  • Thrifter offers two rack hire options: a Full Hire (up to 50 items) and a Mini Hire (up to 25 items).

  • Items can include clothing, up to 2 pairs of shoes, handbags, and accessories that fit securely on your rack (accessories/handbags/shoes etc are included in your item total).

  • You may swap or replace items during your rental period, provided you do not exceed your hire's item limit.

  • Thrifter is not responsible for items added, removed, or swapped by you during your rental period, nor for any swing tags left behind after collection.

4. Item Preparation & Labelling

  • All items must have secure swing tags attached with your name and price clearly written plus a small description of the item eg. black dissh dress.

  • If you are sharing a rack, each seller must label their items individually, and both sellers must be listed with Thrifter before the rental begins.

  • Full hires may be shared by a maximum of two registered sellers. Mini hires are strictly limited to one registered seller only and cannot be shared. Selling on behalf of third parties or undisclosed sellers is not allowed.

5. Quality & Condition

  • Thrifter reserves the right to refuse items that are damaged, stained, counterfeit or in poor condition.

  • We encourage quality, sustainable and pre-loved fashion over fast fashion. Use our price guide to help support your pricing or check similar items on other reselling platforms - a Dissh dress you purchased for $120 from 4 seasons ago will not sell for $100 just because you have worn it once (remember pricing, seasonal, quality, trends).

  • For luxury designer items (e.g. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada), an authentication certificate must be provided by the seller. Thrifter does not offer authentication services. If items are inauthentic, these must be labelled with 'dupe' or 'copy'.

6. Setup & Pack Down

  • Sellers must set up their rack within the timeframe provided before their rental month begins (the last day of the month prior during a 3 hour period only).

  • Thrifter stores are closed for setup on the last day of each month, and closed on all public holidays. Setup, pack down, and collection days will be adjusted accordingly where a scheduled date falls on a public holiday, with the revised date communicated to sellers in advance.

  • If you cannot attend, a $60 setup fee is an option for Thrifter staff to prepare your rack. You must book this on the website and drop your items on the day before set up.

  • Sellers must pack down their own rack on the designated collection days at the end of the month.

  • If you do not pack down your rack by the deadline, a $40 pack down fee will be deducted from your final payout.

7. Collection & Storage

  • Items must be collected within 3 days after your rental month ends unless otherwise arranged in writing.

  • Any uncollected items after this period will be considered abandoned and donated.

  • Thrifter cannot store items beyond your rental period. Some stores offer a 'top up service' for $60 where your extra items can be stored in a large box and our staff will 'top your rack up' for you.

  • A top up service holds 40 extra items in a tub for you.

8. Sales & Payment

  • At the end of the rental month, your total sales will be processed through our Point of Sale system.

  • Sellers receive 100% of sales (less any applicable setup or pack down fees).

  • Thrifter acts as your agent for consignment sales and is not responsible for collecting or remitting GST on your behalf.

  • Payments will be made via bank transfer within 1–7 business days after the end of the rental period.

9. Theft, Damage & Liability

  • While Thrifter takes reasonable care and operates under CCTV surveillance, we are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to your items.

  • Any theft incidents will be reported to police, with CCTV footage provided where applicable.

  • Sellers accept all risks associated with displaying and selling items at Thrifter, including but not limited to loss, theft, or damage.

10. Markets & Pop-Up Events

  • Participation in Thrifter-hosted markets and pop-up events is separate to your standard rack hire and is subject to its own terms.

  • If Thrifter needs to cancel or reschedule a market or pop-up event due to weather or other circumstances outside our control, every registered seller will be contacted directly and given the option of a transfer to another date or a full refund.

  • If a seller chooses to cancel their own participation in a market or pop-up event, no refunds or transfers will be offered.

11. Marketing & Promotion

  • By renting a rack, you agree that Thrifter may photograph and promote your rack or items on social media, our website, or in marketing materials to promote the Thrifter community.

If you do not wish for your items to be photographed, please notify us in writing prior to your rental start date to hello@heytherethrifter.com

12. Pack Down & Disputes

  • Any concerns or disputes regarding sales, payouts, missing items, or pricing must be raised with staff in store on the day you pack down your rack.

  • Thrifter is unable to investigate or resolve discrepancies raised after pack down, as your rack space and items are reallocated to a new seller once collection is complete.

13. No-Shows

  • Every seller is sent an email with setup and important information prior to their rental period beginning.

  • Thrifter's contact details are publicly available on our website, Google Business listing, and Instagram - sellers are welcome and encouraged to reach out if they have not received this information ahead of their setup day.

  • It is the seller's responsibility to ensure they have received setup details and to contact us if they have not. If a seller does not attend their setup day or contact Thrifter, no refund will be given for missed rental days.

14. Refunds & Cancellations

  • Rack hire fees are non-refundable once your booking is confirmed.

  • We do not offer a transfer of your booking to a future month.

15. General Conditions

  • Thrifter reserves the right to terminate or refuse service to any seller who breaches these terms or behaves inappropriately toward staff or customers.

  • Thrifter may update these Terms & Conditions at any time, with the latest version available at your Thrifter store or on our website.

  • By signing or submitting payment for your rack, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.

16. Payment Processing Fee

  • Effective 1 October 2026, following changes to card surcharging rules introduced by the Reserve Bank of Australia, Thrifter will no longer apply a surcharge to shopper card payments. To cover the ongoing cost of accepting card payments, a payment processing fee of 1,1% will instead be deducted from seller payout proceeds. This fee reflects the actual cost of card acceptance and is separate from, and does not constitute, a sales commission. Rack rental pricing is unaffected, and Thrifter does not take a commission.
